Heis Roasters LLC

We have finished the design of our 17 kg (38 lb) and 34 kg (75 lb) roasters, and both are ready for sale. The 17kg unit is the most versatile machine, especially for newly-established roasteries. It offers a good amount of coffee per roast so you don’t have to spend all day roasting. Then you can focus on other aspects of your business, like getting people to buy your amazing, freshly roasted coffee. As your business grows you can increase your production to 900 lb (400 kg) per eight-hour day.

The 34 kg (75 lb) unit offers all of the control of the 17 kg unit. But at twice the capacity, it is better suited to those who already have a roaster and are ready to upgrade, or for those who need to add capacity to their current production levels.

Other capacity roasters and models will be available soon. Feel free to contact us for more information.

About Us:

Heis Roasters, located in Portland, Oregon, is the newest manufacturer of fluid-bed coffee roasting machines. Colin O’Callaghan, president and founder of Heis Coffee, received his degree in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University, and worked for Sivetz Coffee as chief engineer.

At Heis Roasters we are dedicated to providing the most efficient roasting machines possible, while ensuring they provide a consistent-quality roast every time.

Fluid-bed roasters offer several advantages: they are highly efficient; they can be operated fully manually, fully automatically, or anywhere in between; they have the ability to very accurately measure bean temperature; and they can be configured to roast in any amount of time. They have the ability to remove the chaff from the roasting process creating a cleaner tasting coffee. These advantages translate to a better roast and a better experience in the cup.

We also perform maintenance and replace damaged or outdated equipment on most fluid-bed roasting machines. If you have your own ideas for something you want to change or upgrade on your roaster, we can work with you to come up with some possible options to improve or change your roaster. Many times we are able to retrofit your roaster instead of having to replace the system.

Heis Roasters believes that a business must work in a socially and environmentally responsible way. To that end we constantly seek out new technology to improve the efficiency of our roasters.

Coffee roasting takes time and patience, and fluctuates from crop to crop and from bean to bean. Your individual goals as a roaster reflect the culture your company is working to build. In order to help you build that culture our goal is to establish a positive collaborative relationship with you and your company so we can match your company with the correct roaster. We welcome all questions and requests. We can perform some work over the phone or by e-mail. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us.
